A little more than 300 seniors crossed the stage in 1985 at graduation ceremonies. After a small period of indecision, the class selected "Free" by Prince as their class song, the white rose as their flower, and purple and white as their class colors.
As freshmen, the class of 1985 attended the "old school," now Socastee Elementary School, adjacent to the new campus. They are the last class to graduate who attended the old school before the new one was opened in 1982.

Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 2001 night club in Myrtle Beach - 6:00 PM
This Sunday, 2001 is hosting a dinner and roast to our former basketball coach Dan D'Antoni. For those of you who have not yet heard the news, Coach D has recently joined the coaching staff of the New York Knicks as an assistant coach, with his younger brother Mike as the head coach. See the article below for more information.
The dinner and roast at 2001 costs $50 PER COUPLE and includes dinner and an open bar, with a roast to Coach Dan D'Antoni afterwards. Proceeds from the dinner go to the Beach Ball Classic and Socastee Basketball. Coach D's sons will be there, along with his brother Mike. Everyone is invited to attend, even if you didn't know Coach D personally. We especially would like former Socastee basketball players to be there as that would make the evening even more special to Coach D. Please join us for good food and a fun time with Coach D, and show him that the Socastee spirit is still alive and kicking in all of us. It's going to be a very special evening. Dan D'Antoni joins brother on Knicks staff

HUNTINGTON -- Dan D'Antoni joined his younger brother's coaching staff with the New York Knicks.
Mike D'Antoni, a Marshall University point guard from 1970 to 1973, was hired recently as head coach of the NBA team. Dan D'Antoni, who played point guard for the Thundering Herd from 1966 to 1969, was part of his brother's staff with the Phoenix Suns.
The D'Antonis are natives of Mullens, W.Va.
New York also hired former Suns assistant Phil Weber and retained Herb Williams from the staff of ex-Knicks coach Isiah Thomas.
"We have three top quality assistant coaches that will be great assets as we work toward our goal of bringing winning basketball back to New York," said Donnie Walsh, the Knicks' president of basketball operations. "Phil and Dan enjoyed tremendous success with coach D'Antoni in Phoenix, while Herb has been a great part of our franchise for many years."
Dan D'Antoni was an assistant in Phoenix for three seasons. Before that he won more than 500 games in 30 years at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He also founded the Beach Ball Classic, one of the most prestigious high school basketball tournaments in the country.
Weber, from Northport, N.Y., was an assistant in Phoenix for nine years, including 4 1/2 under Mike D'Antoni

The SHS 80's Alumni "Spring Fling" held Friday, April 18th at Tequila Mockingbird was a blast. Please check out pics from that night in the photo album section of our website. Tons of SHS Alumni attended...all ages, from Class of 78 through Class of 89. Special Thanks to Adam & Ashleigh Justice for allowing us to take over their bar and for taking such good care of us. (The Bud Girls were a great surprise!!)
Also, Thanks to Carole (Mathein) Revetti ('86), Teresa Nash ('87), Joe Williams ('88) and Susan Tomko ('80) for spreading the word about the get together!! We'll plan another big one again soon. Until then...please sign up on your class website so we can invite you to the next one! : )
